Mom to Mom
I'm having my baby July 5th.
I'm thinking of getting my boys leapster game systems because they will be with dad and grandma. Not knowing what's going on with mom.. lol I think they will be fun and educational for them, and help me out when I have to go to Dr appts and my 4yo has autism, he sees alotof specialist and gets very anxious In social situations. His portable DVD isn't working as well anymore.. time for a change!

We have a Mobigo which is really good and if your little one is gentle enough, DSi has some great 3-4 year old friendly games. My daughter is 3 and can easily play a few games like a Crayola coloring game and a zoo game. She actually plays it more then her Mobigo.

A million years ago, when my kids were young, we had a fun game called Ernie's Big Splash --just a memory game, but simple to play with just a mouse.
My problem with Leapster (and things like it) is that the 'education' component is often bolted onto a completely fun-free 'game' component... or the game would be fun without the lame 'education' they use to sell it.
It seems to me that the game makers (for young children, particularly) underestimate the value of play and fun in education... and underestimate the intelligence of parents who don't need everything in the building to be labelled 'educational' with a teacher's guide in order to help their kids learn to master their world.

I have no clue about leapster games. I think all of those would be appropriate for that age range.
