I too have been debating about a laptop! I will get a mouse to go with it if I do get one. I dont care for the way that part is. LOL
We have a desktop and my ds has a mini notebook.

I think it depends on the purpose you are trying to serve...if you want a powerful machine and tons of storage space then a desktop is a good choice. If you want mobility in the home or elsewhere, a laptop and if you want mobility at home and also easy to travel with netbook. This is why I have these items for all those reasons. Lately, my netbook has been getting the most use.
