Mom to Mom
Or do you consider it a gift she can keep?

I think if it is a family heirloom it should be returned, bc she is no longer part of the family and it is NOT her property. I also think it depends on the terms of the breakup. If he cheated she can keep it, if it was mutual and just fell out of love, I think the respectable thing to do is to give it back.

family herilooms (sp) should be returned...
the ring should be returned in general... the ONLY time (in my opinion it should not be returned) is if the man gave her the ring as part of a Holiday.... IE her ring was also her Christmas/Birthday/Valentines Gift... as they it walks a fine line between a gift and her engagement ring... KWIM?
