Take some of those plastic Easter eggs. Write the upper case letter on one half and the lower case on the other half and have kids match them up. You can place small objects that begin or end with that sound inside them. Eg we put a little plastic dog inside the D egg and a button in the B egg, etc.
Don't know if I posted this on here before, but.... poke a hole in the metal end of a Pringles' can and tape the clear plastic lid on TIGHTLY and you can use this as one of those little periscopes for looking in mucky water. The ones I found in the store a couple years ago were about 20 bucks but this one worked very well this summer and was made out of trash! LOL
Blocks are awesome! LOL We covered the War of the Roses and Feudal England last year and the boys made endless copies of castles. Some of our blocks are bought at yardsales and some are homemade out of old 2x4s.
