We took a trip to Powells bookstore this week and bought some new books.
One of them we picked up was "The Tale of Despereaux". Today we read up to chapter 10. She was very interested in it and kept me to read more. She wanted to read a few times too. So I let her read a few pages.
She is 5.5 :).
I really like this book too So far. I'm looking forward to finding more awesome books to read out-loud.

Kate DiCamillo has awesome books for reading aloud. Look for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Makes me cry every single time.
Mrs. Fisby and the Rats of NIHM
The Wind in the Willows
The Adventures of Spider
The Phantom Tolbooth
Misty of Chincoteague
Anne of Green Gables
The Wizard of Oz
Alice in Wonderland
The Black Stallion
The Power of the Rellard
I will not ignore the dog! LOL very cute. Ok, I know this makes me a bad mom, but I so hate reading aloud to my kids. (hangs head in shame) Its not that I don't like curling up with my kids and sharing those moments...I truly love that. My problem is that I read faster in my head than my eyes do, so I'm forever gettin gtoo far ahead of myself and messing up the words. It seriously makes me insane to have to slow my mind down to the pace of my actual mouth saying the words. But, having confessed all that, I will say that my kids loved the Knights of Arethtrae series, and since we are all dog/animal lovers, The Call of the Wild and White Fang. I regret not doing more "classics" when they were little, they've about outgrown the bedtime reading thing.
