My DD (5 years old) had her first cooking class today. It was at a cute house that was turned into a "business" that is used for teaching kids to cook. All the teachers are volunteers (it still costs $35 a lesson or $99 for 5 classes).
Anyway, Olivia had a lot of fun! They made "Smashed Potato Chowder", "Cheddar Biscuits" and "Brownies". Olivia is normally somewhat picky when it comes to trying new things. She had no problem trying something she worked so hard to make. She ate all of her chowder and her biscuit. She only ate a bite of the brownie, but she usually only takes a bite of the deserts lol.
Here she is chopping potatoes
Measuring Vegetable Stock :)
Folding Napkins for Dinner
Learning how to properly set a table
Having fun :)
The table and all the kids who made dinner together!
Quoting armygirl16: Yeah, I believe we are. She did pretty well grating the cheese and carrots. This was her first time using a sharp knife. She did well with it though, so I'll probably let her cut up veggies at home (with supervision of course).
That is cool! Are you going to have her start helping make meals at home to expand her knowledge of cooking?
