Need help with Science Wars!
January 18 at 12:43 PM

While learning history, I kind of stumbled upon an awesome idea. After watching a Horrible history video, I asked the kids to pick one history subject to learn about. DD picked Pirates and ds picked Vikings. That gave me an idealightbulbA face off! Pirates vs Vikings. The kids loved it!

But now they want to do the same for science. I can swing it for insects and animals but I'm at a loss for biology and earth science. Any ideas?

    Germs verse white blood cells.

    Water verses rocks.

Just off the top of my head. Any specific areas in biology and earth science?

    Comets versus asteroids?

Gaseous planets versus Terra firma planets?

    Plants versus Fungi?

    Earthquakes versus Volcanoes?

    Tornadoes versus Hurricanes?

Explosions vesus collisions (really cool because one is really just the opposite of the other)?

    Sound waves versus light waves?

Those are great! And no, no specific ones. I just want to cover most areas of science eventually. I was thinking of picking an area then having the kids each choose a subject.

That's a fun idea Pagan. Good input from the other ladies too.

    Circulatory system versus nervous system.

Heart versus brain (which is stronger - which do we use more of)

Respiratory system versus digestive system (compare & contrast how they impact the blood system, etc.)

Cells! Skin cells, bone cells, nerve cells, heart cells.

    Organs: stomach, liver, heart, etc.

    Other organ systems.

Nonrenewable resources (oil, coal, gold) versus renewable (solar, wind, etc.).

    Clay soil versus silt.

    Chemical fertilizers versus composting.

Thank you so much! We're more than likely use all of these :-)

You could give them the Table of Elements and have them pick 3 (maybe even one of each category) and try to build a super team sort of like whispers *Magic The Gathering* or Pokemon. Have an element that could beat the other players attack, so on and so forth.
