Cooking lessons?
October 16, 2013 at 12:34 PM

What do you think about signing a child up for cooking lessons as a Christmas gift?

Would you do it?  Why/why not?

Does your child cook?

Our cooking lessons consisted of being taught by me or my husband. At one point my son thought he might be interested in being a chef but after a while he lost that interest. Only if the child was really into cooking would I sign them up for professional lessons.

If they wanted them & if the instructor could teach them things that I can not!

Yes they help out in the kitchen but it is not their passion!

I have a future chef.  When he gets to the point where he has exhausted my knowledge, I will certainly send him to learn from someone else.

Depends on their interest in cooking.  I wouldn't do it for my son because he doesn't like cooking anymore than I do, but if a kid really loves cooking, sure lessons would be cool.

I love the idea of lessons as gifts.

My son just started showing interest in cooking. I will be teaching himself. No point in him learning it from someone else if I can teach him everything he needs to know.

My boys both cook, my youngest would Love cooking classes. My kids are 9 & 11 and they have to make dinner for the family twice/week (once per week is pizza).

If that is what they want, absolutely!

My 11yr old son loves to cook. He browses the Internet for recipes. He's cooked things I nave have' like chocolate soufflé!
