so dh and i have been reviewing different lesson plans and methods as we have to enroll Dd by august. we have been using various workbook to see what is a better fit. now Dd loves thwarting kumon workbook. she has competed the first eight which are geared for the under 6 set. i discovered that there are a few learning centers near us that she can join for supplemental help, but the parent reviews on yelp &yahoo are less than promising. has anyone dealt with kumon before?

I have used both the workbooks and the centers. I quickly realized I could do the same thing at home and save my hundred bucks a month. I still use their workbooks! We love Kumon!

I personally am not a fan of kumon.

Btw, how old is the child? And by enrolling - do you mean to homeschool or for public school?

I really do not care for the Kumon approach to learning. My niece and nephew were in a Kumon center for a bit and I often took them. Their patents ended up realizing it was a waste of money.

Ok. so what do you find wrong with the approach?
from the workbook it seems to be engaging and challenging, yet fun.

hi eliza , can you go to the place and review the classes?

also will the method they teach be the right one for your child? how does your child learn compared with how they teach

i have an interview set up for next month. i have reviewed the site and it is nite a perfect match, but no program or method i have researched is perfect for her. i am worried that i will en d up over thinking and overevaluating and then not teach her anything. so this is why i wanted others opinions.

I went to Kumon as a kid. Its a huge scam. I would have been in college by the time they got to the kind of math I needed help with.
