So, I still trying to find a clever, nice-nasty response to all the socializtion questions. Even my friends and family members who are teachers and witness the horrible treatment of student by classmates and even their teachers claim they are better off in this environment.
Please give me your BEST response to someone implying your child(ren) will be weird if they don't attend conventional school.
I have encountered this question online more often than IRL. My standing pat answer is usually something like, "Socialization is what I did for my pitbull so the poor thing wouldn't eat every face he saw. If your kids act like pitbulls, you might consider homeschooling, too."
I've also explained how "socialization" in PS generally equates to socialist indoctrination these days, and as a Libertarian, patriotic American who firmly believes in the spirit of this nation's Constitution and the freedoms ensured therein, I don't cotton to my kids being brainwashed into anti-Americanism.
I just say that if you home school properly that's not a concern. I don't actually care what people think about my decision to home school. There is so much misinformation out there that some snappy remark from me isn't going to make anyone change their preconceived notions on it, so that's all I ever say.
