Homeschooling Moms
Hey ladies. Question for you all:
I was wondering how or if you differentiate between half or full days? I know homeschool often takes less time than conventional school. How do you decide I'd you did a full day or half day of work? Hours, subjects covered, material mastered? Or do you not differentiate at all?

I consider it a full day when we've completed all subjects that I have picked out for the year excluding science and history which are on alternate days. Definetly not a full day like ps. Homework is done after I've gone through what needs to be taught by me then I let him have independent study time. Works for us. Half day is just doing math and english.

I wouldnt count either half or full-I would go by the work completed. If you finish all or most of what you set up to accomplish, Id consider it a successful day.

I don't differentiate. If we do work, or go on a field trip, or have a learning activity, then it's a school day. We do a lot more than our required 180 days!

I don't make a distinction. It's either a school day or it isn't. I'm an all or nothing kind of gal. ;)

We don't really differentiate between a full day or half day. If for some reason they don't get to everything they were supposed to do for the day, then they just add it to the next day's lesson.

Our boxed curric is 2 hours for my K student and 2 1/2 for my 1st grader. I have coaxed my K student into doing 3 hours worth of work 4 days a week. I am trying to nudge her along as she is bored with a few of her classes.

I look around at my house. If my house is a mess it is because we had a very full day. There is nothing like an erupted science experiment in my kitchen sink. LOL We are learning every day. We also homeschool year round so I don't give it really that much thought. We are mostly child led so learning is an everyday thing for us.

We finish our day at nap time, but I still consider it a full day because we finish all of our work by then.

I've never thought about it before. When our work is done, we're done. If we didn't finish some work it gets done the next day.

This. I guess I feel if we hit math and Language I would call it good.
