Glass Shards in Lean Cuisine Trigger Year’s Scariest Recall

After consumer complaints, Lean Cuisine Ravioli has been pulled from shelves in Alaska.
Glass Shards in Lean Cuisine Trigger Year’s Scariest Recall

Well, this is horrifying. According to Alaska environmental regulators,Nestlé Prepared Foods has announced a recall of its Lean Cuisine mushroom ravioli in the state. The reason? There may be glass shards in the product, reports the Associated Press.

Yes, glass shards. Worst dinner ever.

The frozen meal in question is Culinary Collection Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli with productions codes of 2311587812 and 2312587812. The "best before" date on the packages is December 2013.

Though foodborne illnesses like listeria and salmonella are often the cause of food recalls, foreign matter does occasionally show up in products. Last year, for example, Kellogg's recalled 2.8 million boxes of cereal due to the presence of metal shards in the product. Contamination, of course, is one of the perils of processed foods. If you don't cook it at home, it's impossible to know exactly what's in your meal.

Happily, officials say there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses.

I saw that on the news.  How terrible would that be to find glass in your meal?
