Plants = medicines
January 16, 2013 at 11:38 AM

I've recently started a little garden, growing herbs and other edible plants. There are SO many different books and websites out there recommending different plants to make your own medicines rather than buying the chemically made stuff. I'd love some recommendations from real moms before going through all those books/sites. What have you made and given to your family?

    Sounds neat, but I have no experience. Good luck!

    I have never made my own, but I have used rozemary essential oil as an anti-bacterial agent in my homemade salve, as well as lavender for the same purpose.  I'm sure a homemade tincture or infusion would have the same properties.

    That's awesome. I can only recommend a few books.

    Welcome. I use a book "Prescription for Nutritional Healing"; it actually uses a combination of herbs and vitamins. I found this:
