I'm there too. I'm 32 have a 10 yr old son and a 4 month old girl. My son has been giving me alot of problems lately. It ry giving him insentives so he doesn't feel like he is being punished ALL the time. But sometimes that doesn't even work. Does you son give you problems at school with conduct or academically?

Is he bored and therefore just wants to argue for attention or to interact? Plan on some special things to do with him, let him plan a meal, shop for it together, and let him cook it. -
It's probably just a stage. Set limits and let him know he can't walk all over you.

Discipline him -
Maybe first find out if he's having problems at school too. Then sit down and talk to him and find out how he's doing: school, home, friends, etc. Tell him about the behavior that is bothering you and let him help you come up with a plan of consequences when he disobeys.

bump. my 5 year old doesn't listen very well anymore.

Start taking his favorite items away from him and then when he does something that is good give it back to him.
