I teach my kids about the two commandments - Love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself (also do unto others as you would have them do unto you).
That verse from Exodus is the first birth my mom taught me. As a kid I took it to mean that God would bless you with a long life if you obeyed your parents. As a parent I think it means "Behave so your parents don't remember why some species eat their young" lol.
by Delirium003August 2, 2012 at 6:45 PMThey are learning them now that they Have gone to many different bible camps this summer. My oldest (8) is asking questions as to what they mean. He gets most of them. Our 4yo doesn't understand them all yet. A few he does though.

We raise them to be good people because it's the right thing to do.
There is no religion in our home.
