I was going to buy a notebook with a 10" screen and itty bitty keyboard... then I saw a laptop with a 17" screen, decent keyboard, and the number pad on the side with a DVD player/burner for $30 more... So I got the laptop... For me the notebooks are way too small and they don't have a cd-rom drive...
I guess it depends on what you are using it for... if it's internet only then the netbook is fine... but if you are using it for more than that the laptop would be better....

laptop. I like having the DVD burner. Notebooks don't have dvd/cdrom drives.

Laptop, definitely. Notebooks are awesome for transportability, but they lack a cd/dvd drive and that's a big minus for me.
